If you are interested in news and comment and I asked you to explain general news seen on a normal topic, what would you think? Come on. Tell me. Want me to make a guess? You think of general information as news that is new and is posted for the general public including marketing for people in general keen on authors, or, you may think of general news as global news that everybody in the world can attempt to understand. For example, the latest oil spill is general news as it impacted so many countries, or possibly the past slump, since it affected more than half of the lands in the whole world. If you presume that, then you are correct with what you think about general news.
For a much better meaning, general news is a type of news that is created for the common people. This means, each person can connect with it. As an author, it is hard to write all-purpose news that is since you must analyze on matters that not only people in a some area can relate to, but people all throughout the world can relate to. The two said above are obvious, since a lot of countries are affected. However, it is not a daily news that a bank mismanages its funds, or when an oil spill happens, threatening almost half of the population of the world’s marine life forms.
So, as an author who is tasked to write general news, you need to think carefully regarding what you are going to write about, and you need to do widespread research first. This is because your viewers is the entire world, there is no room for mistake, and if you cause one, or write anything that is false, then it will definitely affect the magazine that you are writing for.
All in all, when writing news and answers, you have to be cautious of two very simple entities, your focus area and relation to the entire world. So, whatever occurred in Hawaii that isn’t something most important isn’t valuable for general news.
